Business Understanding

– Ensures adherence to department budget so as to avoid overspill of budgeted costs


– Provides inputs to CHRO for preparation of the annual training budget


– Tracks expenses versus budgets and highlights variances (if any) Cost versus budget


– Participates in the definition of the annual department objectives and develops the annual training calendar ensuring that it is in sync with overall training budget and department objectives


– Provides inputs to CHRO for creation of overall department themes emerging from the training needs analysis process

– Creates the annual calendar clearly highlighting nature of training, tentative date, location, potential participant set and whether it would be delivered by internal or external sources


– Conducts a cost analysis for the entire training calendar to ensure that it falls within the pre agreed department budget HODs, HR Cost versus budget,

Facilitates program and content development for the planned trainings and ensures standardization of content across all trainings in the organization so as to achieve comparable quality of training delivered


– Uses internal(esp. CHRO) and external sources to define the nature, length of programs which would help in developing the capabilities identified – Classroom, On the Job


– Identifies the set of trainings for which content would be developed internally and creates an accountability sheet defining it


– Ensures that relevant stakeholders are brought on board to facilitate timely development of quality content


– Ensures that all changes to developed content are done only through the training department – based on feedback from users, policy changes etc.


– Ensures that only approved content is used during training delivery


– Conducts an analysis of the external marketplace to identify good training programs, training organizations which could assist in the development and/or delivery of the stated training programs


– Ensures negotiations with these external parties are carried out to deliver maximum benefit to the organization and keeping overall training budget in mind External vendors / Consultants,


HODs Participant Feedback on quality, Cost versus Budget


Ensures timely delivery of training programs (both classroom and on the job) as per training calendar so as to ensure achievement of the training objectives set out for the year


– Identify trainers, facilitators and locations for all the trainings and inform the potential participants at least a month in advance


– Sets timelines by which participants need to be nominated for each of the training programs and ensures that these are met


– Ensures that the identified trainers have been provided with the relevant content along with any training inputs / capacity building that they might require


– Follows up to ensure that the training is being conducted as per plan No. of trainings conducted (on time),


TAT (for orientation trainings)


– Ensures effectiveness of trainings delivered so as to ensure achievement of the training objectives set out for the year


– Ensures that participant feedback formats are prepared and feedback is taken for all trainings conducted


– Identifies trainings for which trainee evaluation would be conducted and identifies evaluators for the same


– Ensures formats are prepared, evaluators are trained and evaluation is conducted on time


– Ensures feedback data is used as a source for future content development and improvement


– Ensures evaluation data is used to certify completion of training – recommendation provided on appropriateness of trainee for particular roles they were being trained for Trainers, Facilittors


Trainees Participant Feedback


Responsible for recruitment, retention, skill development, growth and satisfaction of team – Creates a recruitment plan for the department, ensures it is included in the overall Recruitment plan with HR; liaises with HR to ensure recruitment happens as per plan


– Ensures appropriate training and development interventions


– Conducts timely and transparent appraisals


– Conducts monthly 1:1s with direct reports


– Actively manages vertical and horizontal career development of team
