Position Description

-Provides determination of materials requirements and materials usage analysis. Ensures maintenance/operating materials and supplies are available as needed to support line activities

-Reviews parts lists/operating supplies, usage patterns, direct charge requisitions and other data


-Works with line personnel, standardization analyst and vendor representative to determine adequate items and quantities for stocking


-Initiates necessary forms to initiate cataloguing and/or adjust inventory levels as required


-Reviews direct charge orders to ensure acceptable substitutions from current inventory are considered and that specifications are complete and accurate


-Provides a centralized control in the department for DC requisitions; provides reports and summaries of delivery status


-Participates in the Standardization Class reviews


-Consults with manufacturer and vendor representatives regarding parts requirements for equipment, parts interchangeability, impending design changes, catalogue changes and equipment diagrams for ease in parts identification


-Follows up with Materials Supply Organization (MSO) to resolve immediate and long-range materials requirements


-Monitor and review spare parts requirement and availability and coordinate cataloguing/stock-level adjustments with MSO


-Coordinate special handling and expediting of materials, and recommend substitution or fabrication of parts


-Support the Spare Parts Management Program


-Forecasting, planning and supporting the Department for Materials Analysis and Acquisition and long term requirements


-Provide consultation and support for short term and immediate materials issues and problems


-Provide support for potential cost savings in both spare parts/operation supplies usage



Duties & Responsibilities

A. Reviews parts lists/operating supplies for new equipment installed in existing facilities, usage patterns, direct charge requisitions, and other data. Works with line personnel, standardization analyst and vendor representative to determine adequate items and quantities for stocking in automated management system. Initiates necessary forms to initiate cataloguing and/or adjust inventory levels as required


B. Reviews direct charge orders to ensure acceptable substitutions from current inventory are considered and that specifications are complete and accurate. Provides a centralized control in the Department/Division for DC requisitions; provides reports and summaries of delivery status


C. Participates in the Standardization Class reviews for those classes of parts and materials used in the assigned area


D. Consults with manufacturer and vendor representatives regarding parts requirements for equipment, parts interchangeability, impending design changes, catalogue changes and equipment diagrams for ease in parts identification.


E. Works directly with line supervisory personnel in assigned department and with appropriate Materials Supply personnel to help resolve immediate and short-term materials acquisition problems


F. Visits operating facilities regularly to obtain current information and to provide on-site materials support to operating/maintenance personnel


G. Assists division in preparation of materials portion of annual budgets; may consolidate the department’s materials budget information. Prepares or directs the preparation of materials usage reports for use in cost control


H. Advises management on potential cost savings in both spare parts/operation supplies usage


Minimum Requirements

-ITC: English, ERW; Math, MA.


-Fourteen (14) years as a skilled craftsman in a major craft area, with experience in related crafts, including 2 years craft/operating/materials supply experience with Aramco/or equivalent experience in industrial plant maintenance as a Materials Specialist


-Good command of oral and written English, including technical materials


-In-depth knowledge of oil industry equipment, materials and related parts components and substitutes, and a thorough knowledge of Materials Supply Organization policies, systems, and procedures



OR


-B.S. Degree in Materials Management, Business Administration or Industrial Engineering


-Seven years experience in Materials Management with a minimum of 3 years in Plants Operations/Maintenance with Saudi Aramco
