Job Description
BMC Software has an exciting new vacancy for a Legal Counsel 1-4 years PQE to join the existing Legal Team offering excellent career progression and advancement in a dynamic, international and progressive environment within a financially stable cutting edge IT Global company.
As part of the Northern Europe legal team your main responsibility will be to provide in-house legal counsel to members of the UK, Benelux, and Nordics Sales organisations but you will also need to liaise closely with peers in other EMEA regions and in the US.
General Roles and Responsibilities:
- Negotiate all types of on premise software contracts including license, professional services and implementation and software as a service agreements (SaaS) and other Cloud and Big Data offerings,
- Work closely with Best Practice and Revenue Recognition teams to ensure contracts comply with accounting rules, BMC global licensing policies, US based laws and regulations (e.g. FCPA, export compliance) and local law
- Provide legal advice and counsel on regional or country-specific legal issues
- Support the corporate compliance programs, including educating regional employees
- Liaise with outside counsel where required on region-specific engagements and assist Head of Legal and the VP, EMEA General Counsel on all legal matters
- Undertake ad-hoc projects as directed by the VP, EMEA General Counsel
- Communicate with regional sales managers and customers as appropriate to ensure compliance and involvement in legal issues and processes

- Qualifications / Expectations: Lawyer qualified to practice in England with experience drafting and negotiating IT and other commercial contracts
- 1 to 4 years of qualified legal experience ideally with some time spent working in-house
- Experience working either in or supporting a sales environment preferred
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Enthusiastic, driven, engaging and personable
- Desire to work as part of local and global team in a fast paced sales environment
